Help me, please?!? My fiance lost his mother a while ago, and last night he had a set back…?!?!?
Ok, well, I’m 22, and fiance, Jakob, who’s 23, just lost his mom right before Christmas. He was really close with his mom… His dad died when he was only 2, so he was raised by only his mother. He’s a bit more on the feminine side because of this, but he’s also able to express his emotions, and understand mine, better than any other guy I’ve met, which I love. Anyways, he doesn’t even have ANY other extended family, or siblings, either… I’m the only one he has in his life, now, so I’ve really tried to be there for him. He’s gotten very clingy since he lost his mom. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally fine with it, because I understand that he feels alone lately; he’s orphaned, without any other family, so obviously he’s going to be clingy with me…

Well, he’s been starting to smile a little and joke around again, which makes me really happy… but last night, my friend and I were at a dance convention, and I hurt my ankle and my wrist (I landed very unbalanced, and fell on my hand, and my ankle twisted)… she took me to the hospital and it turns out both my wrist and ankle are broken… but this was at almost midnight, and I had told Jakob I’d be home around 10:30. He called my cell phone a bunch of times, but obviously I didn’t know he was calling, and didn’t pick up. They put a cast on both, and I got sent home at almost 4 am. Jakob was awake, and he was freaking out. As soon as I came in, and my friend walked out the door, Jakob had a meltdown. He told me he thought something had happened to me and he might lose me, and have no one. He told me he sat in the living room staring at the wall, trying not to break down the entire night, because he thought he was going to be alone. It took about 45 minutes to get him to completely calm down, and stop crying. After that, he helped me into bed, but laid there awake for a long time (I did too because my ankle was bothering me). I finally got him to fall asleep around 6 am after gently running my fingers through his hair for almost an hour. He woke up at 8:30 am to make me breakfast, and all today, he was practically a zombie. He’s exhausted, his eyes are puffy from crying, and he has dark circles under his eyes. I don’t know what to do… I thought he was on the mend, but I feel like last night set him back a lot… What can I do to help him? What do I say?!

It sounds like he might need to talk to a therapist to work through all of this.

Grief is a process, it takes time to work through and although things will continue to get better as time goes on, he is in the worst stages of his grief right now. Most people take about 5 years to really work it out.

If you really care you will learn to understand that part of what he feels is a fear of being totally alone, he has said that out loud so he understands that. The way you show that you understand his fear is to do your best to not stress him. You knew that you were going to the hospital, a place people go to die by the way, so you should have taken a moment to call him when you were admitted and then again after the x-rays were read. That way he would know that you were OK and that someone was taking care to ensure that your stayed OK and then once you knew what was wrong you share that with him. It is unlikely that you will have the same sort of thing happen again and sorry to hear about the two breaks, that is just awful, but there will be other occasions when you run behind or plans change. Make sure that as soon as you know that plans are changing or that you are not going to be where he expects you to be that you call him and let him know you will be late. Then strongly suggest that he meet with a grief counselor so that he can work through some of his issues with another person or people who understand what he is going through.

Hi,While I think that it’s awesome of you (and lucky for Jakob) that you are so understanding, it’ s probably not going to be enough for you to try and get through such emotional turmoil on your own.Perhaps you could suggest that you both see a counselor together and then help him to talk things out with a professional.He has obviously had a very hard life so far and without the "tools" to handle these past situations he will have a hard time handling even something as small as you coming home late. You were preoccupied with taking care of you and sometimes that ’s going to happen. There is nothing wrong with that.I believe that together with a counselor you will both gain a lot of insight as to what’s going on with him, with you, and your relationship in general.Since you have so much love and such a strong foundation a therapist can only make your relationship stronger. Best of luck to you both.

I have a hatred for the younger me?
The me when I was about 11 years old…Im now 15 and I look back and think I was such a freak, no wonder everyone at my primary school hated me! If you think its harsh, let me explain.

I was a stalker and I made up pathetic lies, like if two of my friends were having a sleepover for example I would get jelous and say someone in my family had died.

I was fat, and Im not being mean to fat people but I wore mini skirts and skin tight tops! I mean come on old me…and Id wear school sandals and long old white socks :L and then I put talc on my face to look gothic O_O

I had messy long tramp hair and I was unhygenic (Im not anymore don’t worry!) I used to want to ‘be’ characters such as the candle from beauty and the beast and I forced a french accent upon myself just to be like him at home… O_____O

I did this ‘being’ thing with loads such as the jellyfish from sharks tale, darth vader,angelica from the rugrats (oh god, check the paragraph below XD) and other things aswell.

When I was pretending to be angelica I put on a dungaree dress think with other clothes I though looked like angelica, then I tried walking like her and talking like her, and kept constantly asking my paretns if I was her. Bare in mind I was 12-11 then!! What a freak.

Once my dad was making something in the kictehn and it accidently set a towel on fire, not alot and he put it out straight away, but I started gasping and said ‘We can’t afford to make mistakes like that!’ trying to be in a movie or something.

I used to write pages about people in my school, making up books about each single classmate.

I wish I could go back in time as the new improved me and punch the old me in the face! And say stop being such a pathetic freak, can’t you see?? Youve ruined everything, I never had friends in primary and then lost all my self confidence, Im only just starting to be confident in myself now!

Im not that freaky little tramp anymore, I have a style sense,an attitude,a more sane outlook on life and Im hygenic of course. but sometimes Il catch myself saying or doing something weird and Il think oh god, its happening.
Oh! Right the question is how to get over this hatred and stop thinking about the stupid things I used to do, just how to move on from it really? And does anyone else feel like this or is it just me?

It sounds like you were just trying to get someone to notice you and care. There’s no reason to hate that person. She was feeling like a nobody and was desperate to find an identity. That’s totally normal for that age you just took it to another level by looking for it in characters from movies. Sometimes you can take a little of what someone else does or is and use it in your own life rather than try to BE them. Why would you punch her in the face? She was a little bit pathetic but just needed some understanding and a friend to talk to.

in battle one round is equal to I think 5 seconds. I might be wrong, it might be less, but I think at most it’s 5 seconds. That is to say that each round of battle that you get to do an action and the enemy gets to do damage back to you takes a total of 5 seconds all together.
Out of battle the passage of time depends on the GM and players and an hour in game time can count as an hour in real time, or you can agree that your party rests for eight hours when the pizza arrives and you all stop playing for 10 minutes. Time passing in game is a very fluid thing and doesn’t have a set amount of time that passes for an amount of time in real life.
One example is that in one campaign I was part of my party was a group of guys from the "Real World" who were transported by this mysterious green mist into the D&D reality. We started out by walking and the GM(Game Master(the guy in control of the game)) said "OK, you’ve been walking for about an hour when you come to a fork in the road". This is an example of how in only a couple of minutes of real time we passed an hour of game time. Later on we had an encounter with a Giant Slug and ran away from it when it didn’t get hurt from our shooting it. We ran down the road and came upon a small deserted town. We explored the town searching each building. We said how we were spending about three minutes in each of the buildings searching them, looking for people, looking for anything helpful we could use and in the span of about 5 minutes were able to search the whole town which took about 35 minutes game time. Then in battle we’d spend a total of about 30 seconds game time to have a shoot out with a bunch of Goblins and Orcs, but it would take about 30 minutes of Real Time as we had to roll for initiative and damage and dodge and things like that.
Time in D&D, regardless of what edition you’re playing, is not a constant. It can be decided by the group as a whole or by the GM alone, and sometimes the group decides that the GM is moving things along too quickly and decides to slow the game down a bit so they can get more things into the story. To put it another way, it’s not objective, it’s subjective. You get to decide how time effects you, not the other way around.

i have a gf of almost 5 years… im 21 shes 22..

this is kinda long so bare with me..

basically i caught her texting some dude.. like flirting and stuff.. and it really hurt we talked about it and now its behind me.. i cant really get mad at her cause i did the same thing. she swears that they keep it normal and they’re good friends.. and i believe her. (that was in November)

we’re not like we used to be… we used to have sex 2-3 times a week.. and now its maybe 1-2 every 1-2 months!!! and i always beg her but she says shes sorry she doesnt have the same sex drive as she used to. and shes staring to get really mad that i keep asking.. but its hard not to cause it makes me think im ugly or im bad at it…

also she seems distant.. she hardly ever holds my hand or any of that stuff anymore.. i dunno why.. i have asked many times but she says she doesn’t know why.. and she says shes sorry shes a horrible gf.. i maybe get a kiss maybe 1-3 times a day..

im so confused.. we’re going through a very rough patch.. how can i make it better?? people tell me to break up with her.. but im not one to give up on someone i love..

i also lost my job. so i stay at home thinking about this all the time… i am looking for a job..

dont know if this makes difference but for V-day. we’re going to disneyland for a couple of hours, then going to PF changs then the beach for ice cream… she says shes excited and everything..

shes giving me mixed signals.. help!!
she does say i love you.. she says no matter what happens between us she will always love me..

and when i say i love you she says it back..

it happens when u spend years together. u get annoyed at each other, i dont know y but it happens, have u seen that when two people get married they be with each other more and talk more and say i love you or i miss you more and cant live without each other but when time flies by and everyone gets stressed with the daily life they dont be that romantic ne more, no matter how much u try ur partner’s attempt shud also be there, or else it is useless, if u are trying to make ur relationship better then talk to ur gf about this…… and work it out, tell her that u want ur relationship the way it used to be before, u be more romantic whenever u spend time together. and dont worry love makes it work

Good, but underrated movies?
I just watched a great flick that came out a couple of years ago that did very poorly at the box office. I checked it out only because it featured a gorgeous hispanic actress who is not a big star, but absolutely sizzles on the screen. It turned out to be one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while.

Can you name some other little known movies that are worth a viewing? You know the kind. Independent films, art house, college student made.

By the way, the one I just saw was Illegal Tender. The actress in it was the stunning Wanda De Jesus.

My all time favorites, ( not very little known perhaps…) for which I have been looking for years before I found them:

-Panic in the Skies! (with Kate Jackson) – plane gets hit by lightning, pilots die, landing computer fries to a crisp… mwuahahahaha
-Final Decent ( with Robert Urich) Very exiting b movie in which a boeing gets hit by another lots smaller plane, and then, they can only climb…. (aaaah!)
-Final Run ( with Robert Urich) Exciting out of control train movie.
-Turbulence ( ray liotta I think… ) crazy killer and surviving stewardess who has to fly the plane, a big fat boeing. ( i love stuntflying with boeings…)
-The Langoliers ( stephen king I think… ) they fly through a rip in time… creapy monsters too.
-Executive Decision (1996) with stephen seagal and Kurt russel. plane gets hijacked, and they get on the plane by use of another "docking" plane… thriller.

and of course,

-Pandora’s clock, with Richard Dean Anderson. ( macgyver) about a virus on an airplane… nice one!

I loved the movie Ilegal Tender.. I never heard about that movie until i saw it in the movie store.

Doing Hard Time.
No one knows about this movie and even if they do, they say its stupid. But this is 1 of my favourite films. Yeah its B film and doesnt have perfect actors but trust me its good, watch it, you’ll know wat im talkin bout if you justtt watch it. I recomend it to you.

Also Michael Manns film "Miami Vice"
Is highly underrated when it is a great film.
